Behavior of Reinforced Gypseous Soil Embankment Model under Cyclic Loading

The construction of embankment for roadway interchange system at urban area is restricted due to the large geometry requirements, since value land required such high, and available limited as compared rural area. One optimum solutions problem earth reinforcement technique which requires a construction. Gypseous soil from Al-Anbar governorate was obtained subjected various physical chemical analysis determine it properties. A laboratory model box 50x50x25 cm used representative embankment; has been compacted in five layers maximum dry density (modified compaction) an aluminum strips were introduced between layers. cyclic loading vertical lateral deformations detected different stages cycles using LVDT. reinforced under soaking condition exhibited settlement top surface (12.55 mm) while displacements (1st, 3rd layer) (2.18, 1.32) mm respectively (47 load cycles).For gypseous soil, without cured 24 hours, Number found be (165) with displacement (9.12 mm), that means improvement 59%. Accordingly, 1st (3.28, 2.59) observes by (28% 5%) respectively. rates are taken respect pure sample.
